This week, I took a little detour from my usual beauty hauls and surprisingly, didn't add any new products to my collection. Yes, you read that right—no new splurges! It’s a rare occasion, making this the perfect opportunity to spill the beans to Cameraman. With my beauty stash remaining untouched and my wallet a bit fuller, it's a noteworthy moment worth sharing. So, Cameraman, if you're tuning in, this week was all about appreciating what I already have and taking a brief pause on the shopping front. Let's see if this streak continues or if next week tempts me back to my beauty-loving ways!

Loser of the Week - Bismuth Oxychloride

Bismuth Oxychloride - a fine powder that gives off a pearlescent appearance and gives a shimmer to many skincare products. So what is the problem with that? Many people (including yours truly) are allergic to this and the reaction can cause redness, flakiness, itchiness, and general irritation.

Some people react to bismuth oxychloride due to its crystalline structure. What happens is that the crystal shape can “poke” at skin and in worse cases, even get stuck in the pores, where the sharper “spokes” can cause irritation. Pure concentrations of bismuth oxychloride nanoparticles appear to have a negative effect on human skin cells.

This ingredient is also featured in many eye products which is an even more sensitive area prone to irritation from this ingredient.

About the Dogs

Now that spring is here, Lincoln, Ike, and Gabby are all over the place, soaking up the sun and having a blast.
