Dad’s Skincare Routine

Thanks to some help from yours truly, my dad has adopted a nice little skincare routine!  He’s extremely sensitive to scent and fragrance due to a rare sudden onset of hyperosmia (makes people very sensitive to normal, everyday fragrances, chemicals, and scents, some of these people are called super smellers).  He also has skin that tends to be on dry side thanks to living in Minnesota.  He found the Vanicream Shaving Cream to be a great replacement for his old shaving cream that was too perfumed.  After years of using Carmex for dry lips the menthol scent became too much and he switched to the Paula’s Choice Lip & Body Treatment Balm.  His beloved Neutrogena Oil Free Shampoo was discontinued and switching from that to The Ordinary Sulphate 4% Hair and Body Wash was successful.  Last but not least, some dryness on the skin around his neck led to the final addition of the Drunk Elephant B Hydra Serum.  I’m still working on getting him to use a daily sunscreen… at 75 I’m not sure that will happen, but we will see!

About the Dogs

This week in the world of our furry friends, Ike found himself a bit under the weather after an enthusiastic bout of chasing Lincoln around the backyard. Their games, usually full of high-speed antics and joyful roughhousing, took a bit of a toll on Ike. He's been taking it easy, resting up more than usual to soothe his sore muscles. It’s nothing serious, just the aftermath of good fun and spirited play, but it does mean extra cuddles and a few more treats to help him feel better.

Meanwhile, Gabby enjoyed a typical week, maintaining her usual routine of leisure and mischief. Her days were filled with sunbathing, occasional patrols around the yard, and indulging in her favorite snacks. Gabby's predictable schedule brings a comforting consistency to our household, balancing out the dynamic energy of her brothers. It’s always a pleasure to see her content and at ease, providing a steady pulse of calm alongside the more energetic ebb and flow of Ike and Lincoln's adventures.
