About the Dogs

This week has been eventful for our furry friends! They all enjoyed a special treat of spaghetti, which was a big hit. Lincoln, true to his unique personality, has taken to lounging on the back of the couch like a cat, finding the highest and most comfortable spot to oversee everything. When he's not perched on the couch, Lincoln has been enjoying some free time in Grandpa's pool, splashing around and cooling off. Meanwhile, Ike, always aiming to be at the center of attention, has been sleeping in his favorite spot in the house where he can be most in the way. It's his special way of ensuring he's never far from the action, although he’s not too thrilled with his new shoulder brace. We've been starting slow with it to help him adjust.

Gabby, on the other hand, has been loving all the extra cuddles, especially from Cameraman. She’s spent a lot of time sitting in his lap, soaking up all the attention. Gabby has also been enjoying the warm weather and a few delightful car rides! Over the weekend, Gabby and Lincoln hung out on the deck at Grandpa’s house, enjoying the fresh air and each other's company. Unfortunately, Ike had to stay home to rest his shoulder, but he made sure to find the most inconvenient spot to nap, keeping everyone on their toes. Despite the challenges, their antics continue to bring endless joy and laughter to our lives.

Rice Toners are having a moment with a few new releases highlighting the star ingredient of rice.  Rice can be an excellent ingredient for most skin types, especially those with sensitive and/or sensitized skin due to it’s calming properties. Rice is also beneficial for skin for it’s role as a skin protecting antioxidant.  To top that off, rice can also help brighten skin and fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation.  Next week I will be exploring the options for Rice Toners by comparing and contrasting the following products:

Loser of the Week - Mosquitoes and Ticks

This week, the title of "Loser of the Week" goes to the uninvited guests that made our weekend at the cabin a little less enjoyable—mosquitoes and ticks. These pesky insects seem to have an uncanny ability to find us wherever we go, and this time was no exception. Despite our best efforts to ward them off, they managed to crash our cabin getaway, leaving us with itchy bites and a constant need to check for ticks.

Mosquitoes are not only a nuisance with their itchy bites but also pose significant health risks. They are known vectors for diseases such as West Nile Virus, Zika, and Malaria, making their presence more than just an annoyance. Ticks, on the other hand, are notorious for transmitting Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. These tiny arachnids can latch onto skin and go unnoticed for hours, potentially leading to serious health issues if not removed promptly.

While we enjoyed our time at the cabin, Lincoln rolling in the dirt and swimming in the lake, and Ike bravely facing his new shoulder brace, the constant battle against mosquitoes and ticks was a reminder of the importance of taking preventive measures. Using insect repellent, wearing protective clothing, and performing thorough tick checks are crucial steps in minimizing the impact of these persistent pests. Here's to hoping for fewer bites and a more peaceful outdoor experience next time!
