About the Dogs

This week has been quite eventful for our furry friends, especially with the big storm that hit. At Gabby’s favorite spot—my dad's house—several trees snapped, creating quite a mess, though fortunately, there wasn't too much damage at our place. Despite the storm, the dogs have been making the most of what's left of the summer. They’ve been soaking up the warmth, knowing all too well that the cold weather will be here soon enough.

Lincoln had an extra bit of excitement when he spotted a deer during one of his outings. He stood there, completely mesmerized, staring at it for a good 20 minutes. It was as if he couldn’t believe his eyes! It’s been a week of weathering storms and appreciating the simple joys of summer for our crew.

Winner of the Week -
RevivSerums Ultimate Serum

RevivSerums have updated their best-selling Ultimate Serum to include exosomes.  The price is still the same, $99 for 1.7 Ounces.  It is pricey, however, thus far it is the closest dupe to the SkinMedica TNS Advanced Serum which comes in at a pricey $285 for just one ounce.  These are luxe products and the price tag makes that obvious.

This serum does last me quite some time and to make that happen I only really apply it to certain areas of my face which have more wrinkles - such as the forehead, around my eyes, and around my mouth.  My last bottle lasted about a year with conservative use. The Ultimate Serum is a bit larger in size than the average serum.  The Ultimate Serum is 1.7 ounces while most serums are about 1 ounce.  The ingredient list is impressive and is fragrance free to boot!

The updated serum is certainly worth checking out

Loser of the Week - Hyaluronidase

I know this is the second time Hyaluronidase has been the Loser of the Week, but there’s a good reason for that. At least once a week, I hear from someone dealing with complications after using Hyaluronidase.

Hyaluronidase is widely used “off-label” to dissolve dermal fillers. There are various reasons for this, ranging from fillers being injected in too high amounts to fillers being placed in areas where the person later changes their mind. Hyaluronidase is then used to break down the hyaluronic acid in the filler, restoring the area to its pre-filler appearance.

For most people, using this to dissolve fillers won’t be an issue. However, for others, there can be life-changing complications. The use of this dissolver can trigger autoimmune reactions, and in some cases, it can absorb all the hyaluronic acid in the face and body. This can leave some people looking drastically different from how they looked before getting the filler.

Having filler and other injections is a personal choice, but please take the time to research side effects, investigate the doctor or esthetician providing the service, and remember that sometimes less is more. If you have been affected by Hyaluronidase, I encourage you to seek out Facebook and Reddit support groups.

In Case You Missed It

New Products I’m Excited For:

Skinfix Eczema+ Pre-Biotic Foaming Oil Cleanser
I love Skinfix and their cleansers have always been gentle yet effective in the past! Their body oil cleanser was one of the first body cleansers that really cleaned my skin without leaving it dry or flaky. I’m excited to try their newest cleanser as their recent cleanser release was a winner for me as well

Lion Pose Pep Talk Barrier Repair Cream with Peptides + Ceramides + Triple Lipid Complex
This looks like a nice, unscented face cream.  It is on the pricier side ($54) but it looks like it would be nice option for a vegan face cream.  My only question is the anti-aging benefits and what percentages of peptides this actually contains.

Glow Recipe Blackberry Retinol Blemish Serum
I’m definitely not a fan-girl of Glow Recipe, although I do find their continuous new releases interesting.  Glow Recipe tends to use a lot of fragrance in their products, however, I generally have found these not to be overwhelming.  Thankfully I haven’t noticed their products to be over the top or having a strong floral scent (usually the fake floral scents are the one that give me migraines). I am excited to see that they included both retinol and retinal!

Biossance Pro-Peptide™ Hydrating Lip Perfector Balm with Hyaluronic Acid
This product combines two things I love:  peptides and lip balms!  Thankfully this is a bit more affordable than Paula’s Choice’s Peptide Lip Balm.  Coming in at $18 this lip balm looks like it will have a light vanilla flavor to it.  Looking forward to giving this one a try!

innisfree - Retinol Green Tea PDRN Skin Booster Ampoule
Occasionally Innisfree releases products that look more sensitive skin friendly.  I am intrigued by their Retinol Green Tea Ampoule.  The ingredients look nice and this uses two different types of retinoids - both  Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate and Retinol.  That being said, it looks not very friendly for acne prone skin so beware.
