No BS Bulletin 63

Sixty Three

Welcome to Issue 63 of the No BS Beauty Bulletin!

This week had a major highlight—I got to see Post Malone and Jelly Roll live in concert, and yes… I actually high-fived Post Malone. Total bucket list moment. The show was amazing, the vibes were high, and I’m still not over it.

In Juicy Beauty News, we’re diving into everything from Valentino’s labor scandal to shocking microplastics research, fake designer bags at trusted stores, and how a TikTok video helped a mom catch melanoma early. In What Did I Buy I shared a few recent buys I’m excited about—including finds from Target, Amazon, and YesStyle (don’t tell Cameraman). About the Dogs - Lincoln is still sulking through the rain, but the pool’s open and he’s ready; Ike held down the fort like a champ while we were at the concert, and Gabby’s just happy no matter the weather. The Beachwaver curling iron earned Winner of the Week for making hairstyling almost foolproof, while angular cheilitis got the Loser spot—again—after yet another cracked-lip dentist visit.

Don’t miss this week’s roundup of videos In Case You Missed It, including a review of The Ordinary’s newest serum and an anti-haul of skincare I’m skipping. The Comment of the Week came from someone asking about neck creams—and I shared a few that are worth your time (plus a few that aren’t labeled “neck” creams but work just as well). And big congrats to this week’s Giveaway winner, Sandy P! 🎉 Matthew M.R.—check your messages so we can get your prize to you too!

About the Dogs

It’s been a rainy week, and Lincoln is not a fan. He’s been sulking around like the world canceled walks—but there’s hope on the horizon: my dad’s pool is officially open! Now Lincoln’s just waiting for the sun to make an appearance so he can live his best poolside life. Ike, meanwhile, deserves a medal—he was home alone for eight whole hours while Cameraman and I went to a concert, and not a single thing was destroyed. No accidents, no drama. Just pure, well-behaved king energy. And Gabby? She’s just happy. No drama, no weather complaints—just a sweet little pup living her best life rain or shine.

Winner of the Week -
Beachwaver Curling Irons

If you’ve watched my channel you probably know that I’m terrible with styling my hair.  It has always been a challenge for me, I believe it may be genetic because my mom was the same way. My school photos prove that; in every single photo the star is crooked bangs! Same with my brother. 🙂

Over the years I’ve tried dozens of hair tools and one which I even had to cut my hair from.  Out of all of the technology I’ve experimented with, one brand stands out from the rest.

Beachwaver makes curling your hair so easy since it is a self rotating curling iron.  If you haven’t tried the Beachwaver and are hair-styling challenged I recommend checking it out.  It comes in a variety of sizes, lengths, and fun colors.  Other wonderful features of Beachwavers are the long cord length options as well as the voltage allows it to work almost anywhere in the world- from Poland to Japan to the United States.

Beachwaver also has a variety of shapes which makes it a very diverse tool. I’ve had my current two Beachwavers for well over 6 years. I haven’t tried their flat irons or hairdryers, but these also look incredibly easy to use.  They frequently have half-off sales so check out their website. This is a brand I’m excited about and cannot wait to see what they create next!

Loser of the Week -
Dry Lips and Angular Cheilitis

I’ve been to the dentist quite a few times over the past few years.  What I hate more than anything is the fact that no matter what every time I go to the dentist my lips crack due to angular cheilitis.  No amount of lip balm, supplements, or ointments seem to prevent this:  trust me, I’ve tried virtually everything!

Angular cheilitis is a common inflammatory condition that affects the corners of the mouth (the angles or commissures of the lips). It causes redness, cracking, soreness, and sometimes bleeding or crusting in those areas.  It is more common in the elderly and those with UV damaged skin. The dry winter months can also cause lips to become chapped and overly dry.  For some people it can be the result of vitamin deficiencies which I have been trying to stay on top of but probably could do a better job.

For many people angular cheilitis can be a result of an irritation to ingredients in certain toothpaste or skincare products.  Peppermint oil is common in many toothpastes and for some changing toothpaste is a permanent solution.  For me, keeping the area hydrated with thick lip balms and ointments seems to be the best way to help it heal and keep it at bay, but it doesn’t make going to the dentist any more enjoyable than it already is.

For me, my favorite lip products for helping soothe and calm this are:

@catherinesturm3779
Have you ever tried the Trinny London products ? I’m looking for a neck lifting cream and see everywhere their new product. Thanks for your opinion.

@NOBSBeauty
I hadn't heard of this brand before but this serum has a lot of nice firming and anti-aging ingredients.  It does contain a fair amount of fragrance so if you are sensitive to that keep that in mind.  So far I haven't found a neck cream that I totally love.  The closest I've gotten is probably the DRMTLGY Advanced Neck Cream.  I'll have to work on a video of the best neck creams!  You don’t specifically need a product labelled a “neck cream” because anything that works nicely on your face will likely also work well on your neck.  Do keep in mind the neck is a bit more sensitive due to thinner skin and less oil glands so strong retinoids may not be the best option.

Most Effective Neck Creams I’ve Tried in 15 Years:

DRMTLGY Advanced Neck Cream
Ceramide and peptide cream that works well in the morning and evening, also works great under gentle retinoids.
At DRMTLGY

NIOD CAIL - Copper Amino Isolate Lipid
A gel with anti-aging copper peptides that helps to regenerate skin.  Great for hydration on neck and face!
At NIOD

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream
A gel cream with soothing and hydrating ingredients to moisturize and hydrate skin as well as help calm any irritation.  Contains peptides for anti-aging.
At Ulta

Adapalene (differin)
This is typically used for acne, however, Adapalene can be used for its anti-aging benefits because it can stimulate collagen production in skin.  If you use this on your neck be sure to use a good moisturizer under and over it to prevent dryness.  There are also generic versions of this which may be more affordable.
