If true, I guess it’s a good thing Cameraman doesn’t do the skincare I suggest!

👀 What did I buy this week?👀

Don’t tell Cameraman!

About the Dogs

All the dogs had a great week—no drama, just good vibes. Ike’s been extra hungry, Lincoln’s loving the sunshine, and Gabby’s in full princess mode, lounging wherever the light hits just right. Everyone’s content, and that’s exactly how we like it.

Winner of the Week - CHOICE

Founded in 1959, Choice is one of the leading Australian consumer advocacy groups.  They are currently making headlines due to testing they recently performed on 20 Australian sunscreens through accredited laboratories.  Results showed most of these sunscreens failed to meet their promised protection.

Choice provides unbiased, expert testing and reviews of products and services to help consumers make informed decisions. Funded primarily by memberships and donations, CHOICE does not accept advertising, which helps preserve its editorial independence. The organization is known for its rigorous product testing, public campaigns on consumer rights, and lobbying for stronger consumer protections across industries like health, finance, food, and technology.

We need more testing like this everywhere!  It seems like each time we run tests we find out what works and what does not.  These tests are not cheap- last time I checked it runs about $6,000 to $10,000 per spf test.

Loser of the Week - Ultra Violette

Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has launched an official investigation into tests conducted by CHOICE—Australia’s leading consumer advocacy group—which found that 16 out of 20 tested SPF 50/50+ sunscreens failed to deliver their claimed protection.

The tests revealed some shocking results.  Well-known brands like Banana Boat and Cancer Council performed poorly, with Banana Boat’s SPF50+ measuring around SPF 28.  Ultra Violette’s Lean Screen SPF 50+ was the worst performer—testing at just SPF 4 and SPF 5 in separate batches.

Ultra Violette had a three month heads up regarding the testing and results. Instead of showing any true concern the brand seems to be more interested in discussing possibilities of suing CHOICE.  If they had taken any notes during the K-Beauty Sunscreen Scandal they would know the brands that weathered this scandal best were the ones that were apologetic and upfront.  The brand that went around threatening lawsuits doesn’t exist any longer (Keep Cool).   It will be interesting to watch this play out.

In Case You Missed It

New Products I’m Intrigued By:

BYOMA Sensitive Skin Body Wash at Ulta
Looks like a fragrance free body cleanser with oat. They have also released several other new body products such as oils, lotions, and other cleansers.   Will definitely try some of these out at some point after I finish my current cleanser.

PAT McGRATH LABS Divine Skin: Rose 001 The Hydrating Glow Cream at Ulta
Looks like this brand is starting to release more skincare products but this one looks like it might have a heavy scent. It is on the pricey side, $78 so we will see!

Milani Clean Start Prep Step Hypochlorous Acid Facial Mist at Ulta
Miliani released a new and affordable Hypochlorous Acid mist with only five total ingredients and sports an affordable price of $12.99!

Drunk Elephant Plump-C Tripeptide Lippe Mask at Ulta
Somewhat pricey lip mask, looks like it contains a lot of amino acids.  Very curious if this has any scent or taste to it.

Dr. Idriss Major Fade Disco Block Discoloration Treatment SPF 50 Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen with Ceramides and Glycerin at Sephora
If this didn’t use sad American filters I’d be all over this sunscreen, it does have some unique brightening ingredients in it.  I guess I’lll stick to a brightening serum but otherwise this looks interesting.

Sunday Riley Peacekeeper Azelaic and Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment Serum
at Sephora
Out of all the new products I’m interested the most in this serum, but it also has a crazy price tag with it- $85!  If this had a more reasonable price I’d definitely consider picking it up but at this point I’m fine with using my salicylic serum along with my azelaic acid serum.
