Elastosomes and Epidermal Growth Factors
Researchers in South Korea have developed a novel delivery system called “elastosomes” that dramatically improves how well large anti-aging molecules [(especially epidermal growth factor (EGF)] can penetrate the skin’s outer barrier. Traditional carriers like liposomes are relatively rigid, which limits how deeply they can reach past the stratum corneum. Elastosomes, on the other hand, have a highly flexible lipid membrane that deforms as it moves through microscopic gaps in the skin, greatly enhancing delivery of active ingredients.
In laboratory and early clinical testing, elastosome-encapsulated EGF combined with other actives (like dexpanthenol and NMN) showed:
Significantly improved penetration compared to standard liposomes
Increased skin elasticity and reduced wrinkle depth
Better hydration and barrier repair
Reduced hyperpigmentation
Participants also showed improvements in parameters such as skin elasticity and wrinkle reduction over just a two-week period, and without irritation. These results suggest elastosomes could offer a more effective way to deliver bioactive proteins in topical skincare, particularly for anti-aging applications.
Not all penetration technology is transformative. Real clinical enhancements like elastosomes that deliver intact, stable bioactives could be different because they tackle a core biological barrier, not just make a fancier delivery claim since skin naturally resists large molecules under ~500 dalton.
Loser of the Week - Peter Thomas Roth
After doing some research digging deep into the newly released “Epstein Files” it appears that skincare beauty brand founder and owner Peter Thomas Roth was closely tied to Jeffrey Epstein. Included in the files is a photo of what appears to be a skincare cabinet full of products that were apparently gifted to Epstein by Peter Thomas Roth himself.
It was also revealed that Peter Thomas Roth had a student-teacher relationship with Epstein at The Dalton School. Interestingly, PTR and Epstein were only a few years apart in age. It also shows that the two maintained their relationship years and decades after The Dalton School.
One email to Epstein says “Peter Roth called to say hi! Says he would love to catch up and to call him when you can.” from a redacted email address (perhaps his assistant).
In another email from 2018, “Sunday at 2, peter thomas roth is coming to my house to explain to all the girls about skin creams, cleanses and such, you are welcome, 9 east 71.” Epstein writes to Alice de Rothschild.
The date is important to note because this was after Epstein’s 2014 prosecution related to underage child trafficking.
Peter Thomas Roth denies having any illegal involvement with Epstein and has filed a statement, "When allegations surrounding Epstein’s behavior first surfaced, I was in disbelief that he could commit such heinous crimes. I was gravely mistaken. I’m horrified by the crimes he committed and the lasting impact they have had on his victims, and I deeply regret maintaining any association with him after leaving the Dalton School.”
